Old Chimney

We spotted this old chimney growing out of a thicket along the road in Hale County. A chimney marking an old homesite is not an uncommon site when you're driving in the country. What was interesting was that someone added the family name. It reads "The Arnolds Home."
Sorry about the quality (or lack thereof).
It was really getting dark, so these have been tinkered with to brighten them.

I think old chimneys look beautiful out in the country. It's a little sad to wonder what happened to the home and family but I do like that they've marked this one.

I love finding remnants of old homes. Bittersweet, makes me wonder who lived there and what happened to them. This one almost looks like a family monument.

There's a great children's book called "Home Place", sorry I can't remember the author. It would be a great accompaniment to your intriguing photos today.

I think everyone loves old chimneys...if you ever get the chance take another of this one. I love all the vines growing on it.
