Rain Gauge

Tropical Depression Fay has gifted us with rain for four days now. Slow, steady drizzle with intermittent showers.
We're so grateful! Tuscaloosa has been in severe drought for a couple of years. This is my rain gauge in the backyard. It's registering at about 7 1/4 inches. Subtract about an inch to account for the rain already in the tube before Saturday. So, Fay has bestowed over six inches of rainfall.

Rain would have been very appropriate in my life today.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and condolences on my blog. The funeral was today, and I felt as if I were in a dream, and that it wasn't really happening. It's hard to wake up in the morning all alone, though of course I have my children, one of whom lives here, the other in the US, but it's not the same.

He left us with a huge hole in our hearts that we'll try to fill with memories of all the good times we had together.

I know how much sky water means, we're rain gauge watchers too. It looks like we're heading into our fifth year of drought. Our winter is almost gone, we had no autumn rains, and hardly any in winter. Our dams for stock water and gardens are still dry. Have cut no hay in 4 years. Hope you get enough to replenish groundwater for the trees.

Amazing! Hopefully it comes without any dangerous flooding.

Wow 7 1/4 inches! Are you starting to get tired of it yet, or is it still so much needed that you're still happy to be getting the rain?

It should make for a beautiful Fall and changing colors I bet..

Thanks for checking out and commenting on my Medicine Park post!

Someone told me today that her rain guage here in B'ham showed 9 1/2 inches from Sun and Monday alone. Today, there's no telling , it poured. After all our droughts, we are grateful as well.

That would even be a lot of rain for us folks who live in a rainforest. Wow!

That's about how much rain we got here. Glad so many areas of our state are getting their water tables back!

I just can't imagine that much rain. Where does it go? We get half an inch and people talk about flash flooding.

Nice to get the rain, maybe not all at once, but its hard to complain.
