Christmas Performance

At the historic Battle Friedman Home Christmas Open House, this Tuscaloosa Belle was playing Christmas carols on her violin. There were also Belles dressed in period clothes to greet guests at the door. Look at the size of the square column behind her. There were four in all flanking each side of two parlors. The house was originally built in 1835 and was only four rooms, these two parlors and two bedrooms above each. It was the townhome for the Battle family whose plantation covered parts of three counties. The family stayed there during the social season.

Love her dress and look how teeny tiny her waist is! I would have loved to have been around during the period!

It's a lovely photo of a beautiful young woman. Her dress is very attractive, and the fact that she is playing a violin makes the photo very special. Nice!!

I love this photo! I hope to see more of the home. It's beautiful and I agree with the last owner... homes should be used an enjoyed not cordonned off!

I looked at the enlrgement and her dress reminds me of Cinderallas dress with the bows on the skirt. She looks very elegant and I'll bet the wood in that house is virtually indestrctible.

Thanks Y'all. It really was a wonderful day. I look forward to it every year. She was quite accomplished as a musician. Sometimes, young people with violins sound like cats fighting on a tin roof, but her playing was actually musical.
