I mentioned a few posts ago that I love old sentimental family stuff.
Here's a card box that we found in my grandmother's home after she moved to Heaven.
It's filled with little scraps of her tiny crochet work, thread, empty spools, needles and a couple of old wrinkled embroidery patterns. My grandmother and the women of her generation could do it all. She sewed clothes, quilted, crocheted, knitted, embroidered, and tatted tiny lace. Amazing.

I've got my grandma's sewing box too! And alot of her old threads were from TG&Y! I used to love to go into that store with her.
My grandma could do it all too, unfortunately I didn't inherit her talents :(
So many memories. I have my grandmother's old sewing box with odds and ends similar to this. Can't part with it!
I have stuff of my moms and would not take anything for it. She always saved every button and any string that came into the house.
I bet there are a lot of memories tucked away in that box.
Your grandmother's sewing box brings back so many memories of my own beloved Grandma who had a very-similar sewing box. Thank you for sharing this very personal photo.
I used to shp at TG&Y in Tampa. My grandmother used to wrap her crochet thread like that also. What a nice little find!!
Thanks everyone. It's funny how this post evoked a familiar feeling in so many. This was just one of her stashes. There was another large box with gift wrap on it that had several skeins of crochet thread. Then, she had a traditional folding cloth sewing basket she kept beside her chair at all times.
We loved to shop at TG&Y, but MaMa never said it right. She called it "the TYG" everytime!
