Fall Downtown

Here's a drive by of University Blvd. in downtown Tuscaloosa. I thought the fall trees were pretty. I didn't realize I also caught the Amercian flag and the State of Alabama flag hanging from the balcony of the Italian restaurant.

First Day of Thanksgiving Break

I spent the day at my parents' house with my favorite kiddos.
Niece is sick & can't play outside. :( So, we made leaf rubbings and cut them out. She likes the blue ones best. Nephew's favorite cousin/best bud left town for the holidays. Then, it poured down rain. Mom says you can NOT ride your four wheeler in the pouring rain. Unfortunately, that was AFTER he had already made a round or two and was soaked through to the skin.
On the ride home, disappointed nephew said,"It wasn't much of a day."

Thankful

I know the stores are full of Christmas already, but I don't want to skip Thanksgiving. We all have so much for which to give thanks.

Fall in All Its Glory

I'm savoring every single day of Fall and taking in all its color I can before the stark days of winter. I pass this lovely flaming tree every morning on my way to work. This is another drive by shot. I cropped it so you couldn't see the power lines! :)

First Chili of the Season

Last week was our first real cool snap (that means cold weather, y'all) and the perfect opportunity to make chili.

I used a different seasoning, so this pot turned out extra spicy.

It made me think of a couple of family sayings.

My Daddy would say, "Woooo, that'll take the hide outta your mouth."

My mom-in law would say, "If we eat this, we'll have to straddle the creek!"

Trick or Treat

LOTS of trick-or-treaters came to my house Friday night.

Whoooo?

He's not real, but the little birdies think he is. We put this up last spring to keep them from roosting on our boat. They were so cute when they were building their little mud nest, then hatching out. But the roosting, with inevitable trails of evidence, had to be stopped!

Fall float

October Treats

Here's another reason I love October. CANDY CORN
Of course, it's so sweet I can only eat a few at a time.
This year, I used an empty Ball canning jar to store it. (one of those we emptied of pepper jelly!) It started out functional, but ended up kinda cute, I think.

Pumpkin Pie Time

Reason to love October #....I lost count, but anyway, PUMPKIN PIE.

My mom made this for me this week. Here's what's left. So, pull up a virtual chair and share a slice before it's gone! It's delicious.

Short Days

With sunset arriving earlier and earlier, these little guys end up practicing in the dark.
This is little league on a church field, so there are no lights. I suppose the parents could turn on their car headlights! But wait, a new Publix is going up across the street. So, soon there will be PLENTY of light to tackle by.

Fall afternoon

Fall weather hasn't really come to stay yet in Alabama.
But at least a few leaves are changing colors.

These were hanging in the middle of a big garden spot.

Pumpkin Time!

I LOVE FALL. Have I said it yet? I LOVE FALL!
I love pumpkins and mums and candy corn and caramel apples and scarecrows and haybales and spicy scented candles and leaves.
And even though it was over 80 degrees yesterday, we're still reveling in all the Fall we can get, like this lovely pumpkin scene at a roadside produce stand.

I love fall

I love Fall and all its colors, even if the leaves are silk and the pumpkins are plastic.

Wild berry clusters

These pretty shrubs grow into huge bushes out in the woods. I'm pretty sure the berries are NOT edible. Can anyone identify?
