Resurrection!

The dogwoods bloomed just in time for Easter Sunday.
I hope you and your family enjoyed a Blessed Resurrection Day!
Matthew 28:5-7 "5 The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

Expansion at Bryant Denny Stadium

The south endzone expansion should be finished by September 2010 for the first game.
This brings the capacity to over 101,000 fans. It is massive from the street looking up.

Remember this beauty? It's the Coach's Trophy from the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Now it's on display at the Athletic Facility next to Coleman Coliseum. Cue the choir, "Ahhhhhhh!"

Women's Gymnastics

Roll Tide! Here's a shot from the cheap seats at last night's gymnastics meet at Coleman Coliseum. The #2 University of Alabama Women's Gymnastics team won the meet over the #6 University of Florida. It was a nice recovery after a sad loss last week at LSU that knocked the ladies from their #1 spot. Over 12,400 fans were there in spite of the frosty weather. Not exactly a sell out, but did I tell you it SNOWED all day here?! By the way, the cheap seats came with a hot dog, chips and a drink!

Snow Day

It snowed in Tuscaloosa! School was cancelled, children were squealing, horses kept eating. They were unimpressed. It snowed nearly all day like this. Sadly, the temperature never made it low enough to really accumulate. There was enough to play in, but it didn't last long.

Rain Delay

Although this was a sunny day in Tuscaloosa, we've had more rain than usual this year. The new amphitheatre is behind schedule by at least a month.

Saving Old Drish - The Demo

Sunset shining on Old Drish - In December, the Southside Baptist Church addition was torn down and hauled away. This is the first step in restoring the Drish House.

Here's my original post showing the home with the additions still intact.
In January, a TIME CAPSULE, originally buried by the church members in the 1950s was excavated and opened.

January Freeze

Those are ICICLES hanging around at the marina. (captured by my husband's keychain camera) In January, during a blog posting lapse, Tuscaloosa set a new record for consecutive days with freezing temperatures. Over ten straight days of FREEZING haven't been seen around here since 1958. Southerners just aren't built for that kind of cold. Glad it's over!

This photo is from the RollTide website. (since I didn't get to Pasadena)
All of Tuscaloosa is CELEBRATING. Crowds are forming at the airport and the athletic dorm to welcome the team home tonight. That's 13, count 'em, 13 National Championships. RRRROOOOLLLL TIDE!
