Anders Hardware

Anders Hardware is a classic old time hardware store in downtown Northport. This is the backstreet entrance, which actually looks like the main entrance! Anders is celebrating its 100th year this year. They also have another store in Tuscaloosa. They seem to be thriving in spite of the Lowe's and Home Depot invasion. They must have a really loyal customer base.

Here's the Main Street entrance.

This is the warehouse behind the store. Glad someone with a paint sprayer skipped over the sign.

I love this type of old-timey shop. Glad to see they haven't all gone under or been tied into some national chain.

Ah, so nice. These are the greatest stores and in spite of lack of space (often) they seem to have just about anything anyone could want or need! I never figured that out!

Very special. May Anders last another 100 years!

It's wonderful that they're celebrating their 100th year. I'll bet they give you a monthly line of credit and great personal service.

It was close though! It looks like they thought it would be easier to paint right over it.

Halcyon-I know, I'm always glad to see family businesses holding on.
Jacob - They really do have about anything you could need.
P.J. - They probably do have a line of credit, especially for long time customers.
Joan - Looks like someone shouted at the last minute, "Hey don't paint over the sign!"

I wonder if all hardware stores have a back entrance...I know ours does.
