Because the current photo stash is a bit thin, I'm declaring today Postcard Wednesday at Tuscaloosa Daily. Not sure this will be a recurring theme, but today...here's the vintage postcard I use as my desktop wallpaper. Technically, it IS a photo, so maybe I won't get in trouble with CDP. Someone help me date those cars, 1940s? Of course, Broad Street is now University Boulevard and this is facing east, toward the University of Alabama.

I always enjoy viewing old postcards. Its brings back fond memories from the past and thats a good thing. Wonderful post, Thanks for sharing and your visits to my blog...
I remember shopping for clothes at Adrians and Wiesels, but I was thinking they were on Greensboro Avenue. Been a long time!
This is cool!
I love old postcards! It's so neat to have a glimpse back to the old days. Very neat shot. Where do you find them??
Coooool! I do a meme called Postcards Fridays! It's so nice to find you blog:) I was born in Mobile, Alabama and miss the South!
Pam - glad you enjoyed this post. I may just make it a recurring theme. We'll see.
Rambling Round - You have me 2nd guessing myself about Wiesels. But I know Adrians was on Univ. That building is still there and is a restaurant. The tiles in the doorway still spell Adrians!
Darla- thanks for stopping by, glad you liked this post.
Halcyon - sometimes I find them online, sometimes in thrift/antique stores.
Marie-glad you found me. I usually do the Skywatch Friday meme, but I might start alternating and join yours.
reminds me of one of those WPA photos from the 30s. Beautiful sky, classic cars...
I love old postcards. I used to try to take pictures without people or cars in them but seeing this kind of shot changed my mind. Cars date the photos. Now I try to include them as well as some people.
I, too, bought clothes at Adrian's. Anyone remember Pizitz's? I bought my wedding gown from them. And my Dad bought his clothes from Wiesel's.
