Alex City

On a recent road trip, we had a chance to see the historic downtown section of Alexander City, Alabama - or as it's commonly referred to, Alex City. I liked these old signs that are well preserved on top of the store. Alex City's claims to fame are Lake Martin and Russell Athletic apparel.

Great shots. I love those old signs too, and can't help but photograph them when I see them.

Thanks Jacob - I'm noticing them more and more since I started this blog. Of course, I think I'm noticing EVERYTHING more. It's nice and a little distracting. :)
Virginia - We didn't get a chance to stop, but next time, I'm definitely visiting a few of those cute shops I saw!

I have to agree, Alex City and Lake Martin. They have a drive in theater near there too.

Lovely old signs. You've become a chronicler of things that might disappear - does it feel like a weighty burden? I know exactly what you mean about noticing things more and about it being distracting. Sometimes I have to say to myself "I am NOT going to notice things and I'm NOT taking my camera" because I want just to be rather than to be looking. Gosh, I could get all philosophical about this!
